Simplifying the Creation of Structured QR Codes on Mobile
Consumer product focused on individuals and small businesses that frequently generate and manage QR codes.
Role: UX/UI Designer
Platform: iOS Mobile
The Problem
Users who frequently generate QR codes (for WiFi access, product links, contact info, etc.) experience constant friction: long input flows, lack of organization, and no visual control in free versions.
Additionally, most apps treat QR generation as a one-time action rather than a reusable system.
Hypothesis & Research
If we transform QR generation into a fast, responsive flow and automatically organize created codes, users will complete tasks faster, return for repeated use, and perceive the app as a reliable productivity tool rather than a one-time utility.
The Final Solution
Impact & Results
100% discoverability of History feature after navigation restructure
Form input errors reduced due to dynamic field validation
Increased confidence reported during testing (qualitative feedback)
Outcome & Learning
This project evolved from a simple QR generator into a structured, reusable tool focused on speed and clarity. By introducing automatic history, favorites, and real-time feedback, the experience shifted from one-time usage to repeated interaction. The freemium model reinforced the importance of protecting core value while monetizing advanced customization.
The key takeaway: perceived simplicity and thoughtful structure drive trust and long-term product adoption.
